I don't really like the color pink but prefer peach instead. Red and peach compliment each other well and it added a good color palette to the flyer for Mother's Day. If you want to see what else I added to the flyer then please look at the picture. The layout design is my own original concept and the food photos were found on Google for this assignment.

Lucky's Supermarket Flyer Project
I didn't know much about the Lucky Supermarket store so I asked my friend to drive us to it. I walked around the Asian supermarket to get a feel for the type of things they sell, which are mostly food items. I also looked around to see if the store was decorated. I loved the packaged dumplings I found and the Mochi ice cream. I also thought the Terracotta soldiers on top of the grocery aisle, near the front door were unique and interesting and thus I decided to incorporate a soldier couple in my flyer project.

A Blog Entry about my Journal Page HW Design
Writing about me was actually pretty hard. Why do I love Art and Design? I don't know. I've just always been in love with colors and aesthetics. I've been drawing since I was a toddler and I just never stopped. My art style has changed a lot in all these years, and I've started using different art tools. I have a heart for art. God made me this way. If you want to know what my long response to the assignment question is then take a look at the pictures below these sentences. Click the pictures and then zoom in. I designed the look of the journal pages and the last illustration is one of my cartoon art pieces that I vectorized.

I created a Tattoo Magazine replica
This lesson took a lot of imagination and focus. I had to first, figure out what to make the magazine about in Adobe InDesign. I sent messages to my friends trying to figure out what might interest me. My friend Lee told me that the trans issue was one that was close to his heart because he is a transgendered man. I immediately sensed his bravery and courage and was moved. I decided to interview him but I needed a second topic to talk about in my magazine...My cousin is a tattoo artist and he also messaged me online and told me he would not mind if I interviewed him. Fantastic! I love tattoos. I have some myself. I was inspired by these two people and merged everything together. My magazine would be about tattoos and how they affected my friend Lee and Guyli, my cousin. It would tell Lee's story and the other article would tell the story of my up and coming tattoo artist cousin.
I was lucky enough to be able to score photos from Lee of his tattoos and Guyli allowed me to take the pictures of his tattoo art and some of him from his Instagram. Then I created the back cover of my tattoo magazine and then the spine, and then the front cover in the traditional layout that goes to print style. Back, Spine to Front. I made the tattoo magazine title logo. I thought "Tattoo Lifeline" was an appropriate title. My cousin let me use all his flash tattoo art to make the wallpaper art that I used as a front and back cover. His art is really cool and has a subtle profound meaning, plus it's very creative and cheeky with modern icons. The back cover has the Winnipeg Tattoo Show ad and at the top is my own original art. I just wanted something that kind of went well together. Then I made the inside contents. It has a letter from the author, me, to the readers. Then the table of contents. Then Lee Sousa's interview with photos. The interviews have ads near them as was required for this assignment. Then it's my cousin Guyli's interview. Then the next page also has pictures of him and his tattoos. I also had to attach a magazine style guide and that is at the end.
Disclaimer: I believe that being a Christian includes the act of being a friend and a friend listens and empathizes. Everyone sins. "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Luke 5:32, and in Mark 12:31 "‘Love your neighbor as yourself." We all matter to Jesus Christ no matter who we are and what we do. Christians can change the world by being compassionate. I do think prayer is important and powerful and I pray almost every night for all of my friends.
Below are pictures of my tattoo magazine concept. If you would like to view it you can if you click this sentence, please keep in mind that it will show you the back cover first, spine and then the front cover.

Exploring Charcoal Art
For this lesson we studied the human limbs and learned how to use charcoal to outline things and then blend and smudge to create shadows and hair strands etc-
I love drawing and traditional art. I had never used charcoal before though but I enjoyed the assignments tremendously!

I made a photography website for class
If you would like to see my photography projects in one place please check out my new web page by clicking this sentence.
I will update it throughout the year till I graduate. It's mostly an example website but it also shows that I can take photos and edit them well.
I am very proud of this photo I captured of my friend looking outside:
I love all the black, gray, and white shades in this image. I think I did a good job of not obscuring the beautiful faded details of the scenery outside the window. I wanted the focus to be on my friend though.

City Life Alphabet
I am learning to love photography once more. I haven't seriously looked at the world through a photographer's eyes in a long time but last week I got to stretch my photography muscles with a cool homework assignment. I walked all over my neighborhood and the downtown area of Winnipeg to capture shapes in the city landscape that make the shapes of letters. I captured the entire alphabet and then I also had to take photos of extra letters to make my name. I moved my neck up and down and side to side a lot. I felt like a bird trying to collect all the angles I needed to build my art pieces.
Here is the results:
Later in the week I decided to take photos of events that happened in the city. I transformed into a documentary event photographer and took photos of Winter Fest at the Central Park and also at a block party in the Spence Neighborhood area and at True North Square plaza. I tried to take pictures of people without them knowing I was there but most of the time I asked permission. You can see those pictures on my Instagram: @Maplearticulations
The coolest picture I caught was at the True North Square fire show where I set up my Canon Powershot camera to painting with light settings by changing the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO:

Building a Board Game Instructions Manual
This week I got the chance to make another poster but for the 50th year Special Edition of any board game I like. This was a mock-up of course but it was a fun project!
I love building posters. Every time I have the opportunity I research new techniques and tricks to push myself in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I now know that if anything is pixelated, a simple surface blur that isn't very high will soften that and make it look more appealing. I am also getting more comfortable designing my own lettering and logo designs and using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator.
I chose the classic and simple game called, "Guess Who?" I love how it doesn't make my brain work too hard and I can actually sit back and enjoy it. There is no violence, it is all about guessing who your mystery character card is. And in this day and age you can even customize your character tabs on the gameboards to your liking. There is also a commercial version made in 2019 that has a wider range of diversity in their characters' features.
Here are a couple of pages from the 6 pages manual I made:
